Ashtavakra: Go deep into the knowledge!

Sri Sri has called the Ashtavakra Gita "the most unique conversation that has taken place on this planet". The Ashtavakra Gita documents the unveiling of the highest knowledge from a saint to a wise king many thousands of years ago. Sri Sri shows how, step-by-step, King Janaka is taken to deeper levels of understanding and how we can apply this knowledge to our own lives.

"There was a king called Janaka, he has attained the highest knowledge, But even after that …" And so starts Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's recounting of the Ashtavakra Gita, continuing for over 30 nights in Bangalore, India, in 1991.

The song of Ashtavakra "took place in a royal residence" and Sri Sri invites us to that palace to eavesdrop on the "most unique conversation that has taken place on this planet".

Sri Sri tells us that we have to be disciplined in body, speech and mind in order to be qualified for this "ultimate knowledge", Brahma Gyan. He says that "one who has never experienced the stillness of the mind, at any time, even for a few minutes, a few hours, should not even touch the book, … should not go anywhere near this knowledge".

Sri Sri promises that for the one "who has started the path, this [knowledge] opens up many avenues". And through 33 tapes, Sri Sri lets us follow Janaka and see "how step by step he is led" to realize the answer to his question: "How can I be free?".

Patanjali Yoga Sutras:

In this set of ten tapes, Sri Sri translates and interprets the ancient Yoga Sutras of Maharishi Patanjali. The Yoga Sutras are considered the definitive text on the mechanics of the growth of consciousness.

Sri Sri illumines the profound wisdom contained in Patanjali's concise Sanskrit passages and applies it to our everyday experience. He also identifies the many practical techniques Patanjali gives us for realizing union with the Divine.
